God in the Margins

Bible Verse
“But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at His feet, trembling with fear, and told Him the whole truth. He said to her, ‘Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.’” – Mark 5:32–34

Reflection
The woman with the issue of blood lived in the shadows for twelve years. According to the law, she was considered unclean, excluded from worship, and cut off from community life. Yet on that day, she pressed through the crowd just to touch the edge of Jesus’ garment.
What is striking is not just her healing, but how Jesus responded. He did not let her remain hidden in the background. Though the crowd was large and urgent needs surrounded Him, Jesus stopped, turned, and called her out not to shame her, but to restore her publicly. He gave her a new name: “Daughter.”
This story reminds us that Jesus notices the unnoticed. He is the God of those who live on the margins whether it’s loneliness, shame, or the quiet struggles no one else sees. With Jesus, no one is invisible.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You that You see the ones the world overlooks. Thank You that in Your kingdom, no one is forgotten. Help me to notice others as You do, and to extend compassion to those who feel unseen. Thank You for calling me Your child and drawing me out of the shadows into Your light. In Your name I pray, Amen.
