Bible Verse
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” — Psalm 23:1
Reflection
This verse beautifully captures the picture of God as a shepherd and us as His sheep. A shepherd provides food, water, guidance, and protection. Sheep, by nature, are dependent and vulnerable they cannot survive without someone leading them.
David, once a shepherd himself, understood this relationship. By calling the Lord his shepherd, he was declaring:
• Provision → God gives what I truly need, not always what I want.
• Guidance → God leads me to still waters and safe pastures.
• Protection → Even in valleys of danger, I am not alone.
• Contentment → When God is enough, my soul finds rest.
Often, we live like wandering sheep restless, anxious, and chasing things that don’t satisfy. But when we let God be our shepherd, we realize we already have everything we need in Him. True peace comes not from possessions or control, but from the presence of the Shepherd.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for being my Shepherd. Lead me when I am lost, protect me when I am afraid, and remind me that in You I have all I need. Help me to rest in Your care today. Amen.
