Bible Verse
“The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.” — Psalm 118:22
Reflection
In ancient construction, the cornerstone was the most important stone in the building. It set the alignment, carried the weight, and determined the stability of the structure. Yet here, the psalmist reminds us of a paradox: the very stone that was rejected by the builders became the foundation of everything.
This verse points directly to Jesus. He was despised, rejected, and crucified yet He became the foundation of salvation for the whole world. What man saw as useless, God exalted as essential.
But there’s a personal lesson here too. Many times, what people reject in us our weaknesses, our humble beginnings, our unnoticed acts of faith may be the very things God chooses to build something great upon. God has a way of lifting up what others overlook.
The question is: What is the cornerstone of your life today? Is it career, comfort, people’s approval or Christ Himself? If He is not the cornerstone, the whole structure of life will wobble. But when Christ is at the center, everything aligns, even through storms.
So let us not measure our worth by who accepts or rejects us. Instead, let us find stability in Christ, the Living Stone, chosen and precious in God’s sight.
