Bible Verse
“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.” — Matthew 6:22
Reflection
Jesus compared the eye to a lamp. Just as a lamp determines whether a room is filled with light or left in darkness, the way we see and focus shapes the condition of our heart. When our spiritual sight is clear, our lives are illuminated with truth and peace. But when our focus is clouded by worry, envy, or distractions, our inner world becomes heavy and restless.
This teaching goes deeper than physical sight it’s about perspective. What we choose to dwell on will either nourish or drain our soul. Fix your eyes on material things, and you’ll never feel satisfied. Keep your gaze on negativity, and darkness will grow. But when we look to God’s Word, His promises, and His goodness, light begins to fill us from within bringing hope, clarity, and strength.
Think of a camera lens: when it’s scratched or out of focus, every picture is blurred. But when cleaned and aligned, it captures beauty with precision. In the same way, when our vision is centered on Christ, our lives come into alignment with His light, and we begin to see the world as He sees it.
So the question remains: Where are your eyes resting today? On temporary shadows, or on the eternal light of Christ? What we choose to see will shape who we become.
Prayer
“Lord, purify the eyes of my heart. Help me not to be distracted by things that pull me into darkness. Fix my gaze on You so that Your light may fill every part of my life. May my focus bring clarity, peace, and joy to my walk with You. Amen.”
